Cozy, seasonal romance set during Christmas, Hanukkah, Thanksgiving, or New Year's Eve. Snow, fairy lights, mulled wine, and strangers-to-lovers under the mistletoe.
Holiday romance is an annual market event more than a year-round sub-genre — new releases peak in October/November, read in December, then quiet. Elin Hilderbrand's Winter Street series anchors the literary-holiday lane; Christina Lauren's In a Holidaze and Helena Hunting's A Lie for a Lie (holiday episodes) lean rom-com; RaeAnne Thayne and Sarah Morgan dominate the cozy-small-town end. Tropes tend to be cozy: fake dating for family dinners, snowed-in cabins, second chances on New Year's. Most holiday romance is closed-door to low spice; the comfort of the season is the whole point.

Most readers do in November-December. Publishers release them October-November for that window. Some readers enjoy them off-season as comfort reads — the genre works year-round if you like the cozy vibe.
Mostly — Christmas dominates the sub-genre — but Hanukkah romances (Jean Meltzer's The Matzah Ball), Thanksgiving novellas, and New Year's Eve stories all count as holiday romance. Expect 80%+ of the catalogue to be Christmas-set.
Mostly closed-door to low spice. Holiday romance leans cozy — the mood is the whole point. Emily Henry's Happy Place, Christina Lauren's In a Holidaze, and most Sarah Morgan holiday novels sit mild. Spicier holiday romances exist (Helena Hunting, Lucy Score's Christmas Carolina) but are the exception.
Elin Hilderbrand's Winter Street trilogy for literary family drama; Debbie Macomber's Christmas catalogue for cosy small-town; Sarah Morgan's Snow Crystal trilogy for ski-resort setting; Helena Hunting's holiday-set Pucked novellas for higher-spice hockey.
