Protecting Brenna: A small town single dad bodyguard romance

A single dad bodyguard romance with a shy heroine who accidentally turns his world upside down. JJ just wants a stable place to raise his daughter and live out the rest of his life without another woman. He moved to the same ranch his dad was foreman of to take over that role but nothing has gone to plan. His dad hasn't left, the house wasn't ready for them to move in, and there's no job for him if his dad stays. His new boss is running a security team and training people to do the job. Figuring it's as good a job as any, JJ asks to join. All goes well until he gets his first assignment. Brenna was just living her life when a case of wrong place, wrong time left her a witness to a murder. Men are hunting her down to keep her from testifying, and it's all the cops can do to even try to keep her safe. When a friend mentions this security company, she reaches out. They work out a deal with the D.A., and next thing she knows, she's on a plane headed to some ranch. JJ is not happy to have his first detail at the ranch with him and his daughter. That's too much risk to have so close to home. Brenna was just a first-grade teacher and didn't sign up for this life of hiding or the grumpy man that's always telling her what to do. As JJ gets to know her, he finds himself intrigued by the quiet woman, unsure of what to do with that information. Brenna doesn't want to like the overbearing cowboy but between him and his daughter, she's falling hard for them both. When push comes to shove, JJ has to decide if the risk will be worth the reward while trying to keep both the women in his life safe.
